Fake News
Fake news is content that is manipulated to look like a real journalistic report but it is not. In 2016 social media hosted a majority of fake news stories. 2016 was the first year fake news was popularised and recognised. Fake news can now be more convincing than ever with the ability to fake and manipulate voices and manipulate peoples facial expressions.
Fake news can be very dangerous to anyone with a successful career that is known to the public. Fake news can be used to ruin peoples reputation, simply accusing them of a crime is now enough to ruin someones career through fake news.
Fake news can also be used to refer to any news stories someone dislikes. A main example of this is Donald Trump referring to all news that is against him as being fake. Fake news is now used as a defence to discredit news stories that have facts to back them up.
Fake news has become increasingly popular and has overall damaged the reputation of the news media in the eyes of the public.
